Side by Side Poster

April 17-May 17Side by Side by Sondheim (Stephen Sondheim and Leonard Bernstein, and Jule Styne and Richard Rodgers and Mary Rodgers, Lyrics by  Stephen Sondheim, continuity by Ned Sherrin), directed by Shannon Wollman.

A dazzling array of songs from Sondheim’s greatest shows, including “Follies,” “A Little Night Music,” “A Funny Thing Happened,” “West Side Story” and “Gypsy.”

5 Stars: "All of the cast is amazing. The acting is great and the singing is even better. The music is nearly nonstop, and with only four singers, there’s not much time to catch ones breath between numbers. But this cast has found a perfect balance of who can do what and for how long, and the performances stayed strong right to the very end."

5 More Stars: "
Vagabond Players is wearing a sensational hat of many flavors, providing you all the company you could ask for and giving you a comedy, with hints of heart-melting sorrow, with their production of Stephen Sondheim’s Side by Side by Sondheim."

TheatreBloom.com

"
This 'Side by Side' provides a breezy, engaging reminder of Sondheim's genius not just for rhyme and melody, but also his uncanny ability to capture the frailty, beauty, craziness and magic of humans and their relationships."
